Why I Wrote This

This book didn’t begin with a plan to write a book. It began with years of conversations that stayed with me.

Some happened in hospital rooms. Others in hallways, offices, around kitchen tables, and in moments I never expected. Patients, families, caregivers, colleagues, mentors, and friends taught me something when I was willing to listen.
